Ferentillo Relais rises on the upland plain of Monte Solenne at
227 miles above sea level, few miles away from Marmore Waterfalls, and it’s
completely encircled by a dense vegetation covering all Valnerina (River
Nera Valley).
The History
The Abbey was built in VIII century by Faroaldo the II, Duke of Spoleto.
He was made monk, died and was buried inside the Church of the Abbey. From
that day it became Mausoleum of the Longobard Dukes. After this period the
Abbey became property of Spoleto, then was almost entirely destroyed by
Saracens, and rebuild in X and XI century. The Abbey had an extended territorial
patrimony and a great power on the area until XIV century, when it was entrusted
to the church. Subsequently it went under the Cybo family and the Ancajani
family who cured the frescoes restoration. In 1890 Decio Ancajani redeemed
the Abbey that became private. In 1917 the last descendant of the Ancajani
gave the Church to the parish of Ferentillo and sold the convent to Ermete
Costanzi. The Costanzi family cured the refurbishing until 1998 and is the
actual owner of the Relais.
The Rooms
The evocative rooms of Ferentillo Relais are in great part obtained from
the ancient rooms of Benedictine monks and are different from each other:
some of them have a fireplace; others have consoles and nice corners, wall
closets and embrasures. But what makes unique this place is the mysticism
given by the historical atmosphere. All the rooms are equipped with telephone,
television, satellite TV, mini-bar, air conditioning, hair dryer, safe,
bathtub (only in Suite).
Wellness centre
Ferentillo Relais is the ideal place to relax and take care of your body
and well-being, getting rid of tensions and recovering health, energy and
harmony. The structure has an exclusive area for your relax. The wellness
centre has a Finnish Sauna and a Jacuzzi pool. Our staff will take care
of your psychophysical well-being.
Wellness Treatment
It is posntssible to choose among the following treatments: mud bath; Indian
massage; face bioenergetics treatment; plantar reflexology; emolinphatic
massage; energetic massage with crystals; face/body mud bath face/body;
restructuring treatment; Hata Yoga.
Restaurant
Beside the residence there’s a very good restaurant, quoted in a very important
restaurant guide “Gambero Rosso”. Tasting menus at 33,00 € per person.
Activity
Relais Ferentillo is placed inside River Nera Park (Valnerina), 8 miles
away from Marmore Waterfalls. Here nature is still wild, the waters are
fresh, crystalline, and there are several Rafting centres. It is possible
to have relaxant walks, go for trekking, mountain bike or horse riding.
For canoeing there is Piediluco Lake at 9 miles, or if you prefer there
are several natural caverns to visit around Marmore Waterfalls. You can
also practice free climbing near Ferentillo 2 miles. Canoeing, kayak, rafting
soft, hydro speed 4 miles. Swimming pool available (free shuttle for the
swimming pool), soccer and tennis field in Arrone and Ferentillo 2 miles.
Small animals are accepted.
